Training Manager – Radio Communications Industry

Simoco Wireless Solutions is a leading global based radio communications company, which has an extensive history and prides itself on its reputation for quality, innovation, flexibility and performance. The company services the Government and Commercial markets with particular expertise in public safety, mining, utilities, special events, transport and rail. The Australasian Head Office is located in Scoresby VIC and has branches located in all capital cities in addition to an extensive dealer network across the country and overseas.

An exciting new role of Training Manager based out of our Scoresby office in Melbourne has become available. Whilst the Training Manager role is primarily based in Australia, there are frequent opportunities for travelling overseas to support our global positioning through Simoco EMEA, Americas & SE Asia. To secure this role you will have ‘video pizzazz’ with a background in marketing, product development or training to utilise your creativity in the technical training of staff, managers, partners and our client base on our product range.

You will be adept at planning, managing, co-ordinating and delivering training programs in support of a global operation. The role will take strategic and operational direction from the Product Council and will report into the Director, Technical Solutions for line management purposes.

Key Responsibilities include:

  • To design, prepare, and present training courses to Simoco Staff, Partners, and End Customers as appropriate and other training as required by the Company
  • To implement training programs consistent with the policies of the Company
  • To understand training services best practices within our industry to continually improve the Company’s offering
  • To have a working knowledge of all the Company’s products
  • To engage with the subject matter experts within the Company to develop training programs
  • To prepare and maintain a schedule of approved courses, and to publish regularly to relevant partners, and internal staff
  • To deliver training programs via webinars, online learning systems, video conferencing and face to face training
  • To keep up-to-date records of training sessions offered and courses completed
  • To manage training plans and budgets according to the Company’s business plan
  • To maintain the list of certified trainees and their employers
  • To develop and publish reports on a quarterly basis
  • To maintain a certifications database
  • Management of content on key platforms – Litmos eLearning and SharePoint

The ideal candidate will have:

  • Recognised Certificate/Diploma in Training Management or Professional Trainer credentials
  • Experience of managing and delivering training programs
  • Marketing background experience; or ideally a related qualification
  • Experience working in the two-way radio industry or a closely related industry (highly regarded)
  • Able to build training content through several mediums: video, PowerPoint, web
  • Knowledge of other technologies – wireless and fixed line communications
  • Experience in online learning platforms and knowledge of management systems
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to develop a Training Program from “ground up”
  • Excellent presentation skills (written and verbal)
  • Customer focused and experienced in stakeholder management
  • Ability to prioritize, co-ordinate and multi-task several projects at once
  • The ability to work well under pressure and be well organized to manage people effectively
  • IT literate with good working knowledge of key technologies utilised in modern training programs
