We are looking to hire a junior Java developer with a learning mindset. Our team have strong Java backgrounds and are keen to learn new technologies and software packages – including Cloud and Calypso in the financial industry. You will be working in a high performing Calypso DevOps Account Team in Sydney.

As a Junior Java Developer, this is a truly exciting  opportunity for you to work with great collages in a stimulating environment that is constantly evolving. Our team have strong Java backgrounds, and we are always keen to learn new technologies and software packages, including Cloud and Calypso. You will join us on a  permanent basis, in a successful team striving for excellence.

You’ll have a learning mindset, and will be highly motivated to join our Calypso DevOps Account team supporting the Calypso platform. This strategic platform,  supporting several middle and back office teams globally, will be involved in several large projects over the next few years.

In this role you will initially be responsible for automation of deployment processes to various infrastructure platforms including Public and Private Cloud.

Longer term, you will have the opportunity to learn the Calypso environment and participate in the extension of this platform - including the design, development and maintenance of interfaces, workflows and engines. As a DevOps team, we are managing both Production support, BAU as well as large projects.      

Your responsibilities will include:

• automation of deployment processes as well as environment management across several technologies – including public and private cloud. You will have the opportunity to learn how Macquarie utilise these new infrastructure platforms.
• delivery of extensions to our Calypso platform including analysis, design, development and implementation following best practice. You will have the opportunity to learn how Macquarie has implemented this strategic banking software.
• build relationships with Technical and Non-Technical stakeholders
• strive to become a SME for 3rd Level queries and problem solving
• ensure quality standards and a high level of professionalism is met at all times.

You will bring a strong background in Java and a keen attitude to learn. In addition you will:

• have strong commitment to the delivery of robust solutions in support of critical business functions
• have experience in development best practices
• have strong SQL and Database experience, ideally with either Sybase or Oracle
• have Shell Scripting experience
• have extensive problem solving skills and good attention to details
• be a strong team player who demonstrates flexibility and a pro-activeness - you must be a self-starter.
