UGL Unipart Rail Services Pty Ltd (UGL Unipart) was founded in December 2011 as a Joint Venture between UGL (Australia) and Unipart Rail (UK). UGL Unipart operates a Rail Maintenance Facility at Auburn where it maintains rolling stock for Sydney Trains, Transport for New South Wales and other rail operators.

 

UGL Unipart is seeking a Document Controller on Max term contract basis to provide effective document control for the Tangara Technology Upgrade (TTU) project through administering the Document Management System and other similar systems.

 
 

Key Responsibilities and Accountabilities 

  • Ensure effective document control for the TTU Project to meet project needs including those required under ISO accreditation. 
  • Provide support to the TTU Project around developing, maintaining, issuing, withdrawing, archiving and accessing documents as required. Documents include, but are not limited to, technical documents, work instructions, engineering documents, records, work orders etc. 
  • Develop and maintain records and systems (e.g. databases) in support of the document control system. 
  • Provide general administration support to the TTU Team as directed by the Quality Manager or their senior delegates. 
  • Ensure compliance with all record keeping requirements. 
  • Assist with job planning activities such as preparing job and retrieving job cards and work orders and filing accordingly.  
  • Liaison with project planning team members and production staff on the production floor to ensure records are available in a timely fashion and in accordance with the schedule.  
 

Qualification and Education Requirements

  • Strong communication skills (oral & written) including strong negotiation and influencing skills and the ability to establish effective working relationships with a variety of people at different levels both internally and externally.
  • Advanced skills in computers: MS Word, Excel, email. 
  • Previous experience working as a Document Controller in an engineering / production/manufacturing environment.  
 

Desirable / Preferred Skills

  • Experience in the transportation sector, preferably rail, automotive, military, defence, avionics or any other safety critical environment. 
  • Experience in the development of new processes and systems and/or transition into existing systems. 
  • Good understanding of ISO 9001 Quality Management System requirements. 
  • Proficiency in planning/supply chain software such as SAP or similar
