About the role

Description of Responsibilities

The Operations Assistant will perform a full range of administrative, secretarial and logistical functions, including preparing correspondence and reports, organizing and maintaining records, supporting missions by senior ADB staff, and other administrative functions.

Reporting Arrangement

The position will report to designated International Staff and senior National Staff

Selection Criteria:

  • Suitability to undertake the responsibilities mentioned above at the required level.
  • Bachelor's degree
  • At least 5 years professional experience in similar organization/s.
  • Familiarity with operational and administrative procedures of organizations in the public or private sector.
  • Excellent command of written and spoken English.
  • Excellent typing skills, sound knowledge of word-processing, spreadsheets, presentation, and graphics software.
  • Strong coordination, interpersonal, and diplomatic skills, an ability to work with individuals from different cultural/national backgrounds, and a demonstrated record of working collaboratively as a team member.
  • Ability to take multi-task, take the initiative, solve problems, proactively manage tasks, and complete tasks promptly within tight timeframes and with high quality.
  • Willingness and capacity for learning and innovation.
  • Familiarity with Pacific island cultures and countries.

The advertised position is a regional staff position with local remuneration package. It is open to nationals and permanent residents residing in Australia; and nationals from ADB member countries in the Pacific region: Cook Islands, Federated States of Micronesia, Fiji Islands, Kiribati, Papua New Guinea, Republic of the Marshall Islands, Nauru, Palau, Samoa, Solomon Islands, Timor-Leste, Tonga, Tuvalu and Vanuatu. It is also eligible for nationals from New Zealand. The position is for a 5-year special fixed term appointment. ADB offers a competitive salary and benefits package applicable to local staff.  While the position advertised is for the Pacific Liaison and Coordination Office in Sydney, Australia, ADB staff may be required to serve in any location outside the Resident Mission at the discretion of Management.
