Our client is based in Logan and is seeking a Planning Officer to assist the Development Assessment in the technical services.  
 
This contract is from 16th July 2018 with an initial finish date of 11th January 2018 at $39.24p/h + Super.
 
Key responsibilities:
 
Level 3 – Planning Officer
  • Undertakes low risk applications and co-ordination of material change of use, operational works (advertising devices), reconfiguring of a lot, compliance assessments, building works assessable against the planning scheme and standard building work applications.
 
Level 4 – Planning Officer
  • Undertakes low risk applications and other applications under general supervision and co-ordination of material change of use, operational works (advertising devices), reconfiguring of a lot, compliance assessments and building works applications.
 
Provide technical advice in relation to planning matters to both internal and external customers.
 
Level 5 – Planning Officer
  • Undertakes assessment of applications under general supervision and co-ordination of material change of use, operational works (advertising devices), reconfiguring of a lot, compliance assessments and building works applications.
 
  • Supervision of Student Planning Officers or other Planning Officers.
 
  • Provide technical advice in relation to planning matters to both internal and external customers.
 
General responsibilities for Levels 3, 4 and 5
 
  • Prepare planning reports that provide professional and objective recommendations and advice to inform the decision of Council and/or Council’s delegate.
 
  • Contribute to the development of business improvement projects.
 
  • Attend, as required, pre lodgement meetings for all types of development applications.
 
  • Attend to telephone and counter enquiries in accordance with Council requirements and policies for customer service.
 
  • Processing the lodgement of applications in accordance with the applicable legislation.
 
  • Undertake research including research of old planning schemes, zoning maps, registers and development applications.
 
  • Undertake the responsibility for the coordination of plan sealing and bonding processes.
 
  • Maintain and update branch process and system.
 
  • Managing applications in accordance with the timeframes from the Act or as altered by internal directives.
 
  • Undertake any other duties within the level of responsibility and scope of the position as directed from time to time.
 
 
Selection Criteria:
 
  • Current C class drivers licence.
 
  • Refer to progression and appointment requirements below. 
 
  • Demonstrated knowledge of relevant provisions of planning and associated legislation, land use development and development applications and relevant Council policies and procedures.
 
  • Demonstrated ability to work as an effective team member and handle the challenges associated with working in a dynamic environment with ever changing priorities.
 
  • Demonstrated negotiation, oral and written communication and customer service skills.
 
  • Demonstrated ability to prepare development assessment reports.
 
  • Demonstrated experience in working with a range of internal and external stakeholders.  
 
  • Demonstrated sound knowledge and application of Microsoft Suite, email, internet, and ability to rapidly acquire knowledge of GIS based product.
