Description
The City requires a full time Finance/Procurement Officer ASAP who specialises in contracts/procurement for a 6-8 week assignment. A well sought after Local Government employer, they offer their employees a great working environment based near the CBD.
The main objectives of the role are to:
- Receive purchase requisitions, confirm authorisation and verify budget allocation.
- Liaise with employees regarding purchase requests, research appropriate suppliers and obtain quotations, Review quotations, determine supplier, negotiate terms of sale and place orders.
- Liaise with suppliers and attend trade shows to remain up to date with new products and services.
- Answer all general purchasing enquiries from employees and suppliers.
- Administer the Tender/Contract procedure in accordance with statutory requirements and the city’s policies
- Supervise both the development of tender and contract documents and the calling of tenders or quotes in accordance with policies and budgets
- Develop, monitor and review contractual policies, procedures, specifications and guidelines in accordance with corporate objectives.
Profile
As an ideal applicant, you will have;
- Strong negotiating and conflict resolution skills.
- Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
- Highly developed written and verbal communication skills.
- Sound understanding and knowledge of purchasing and supply management.
- Comprehensive knowledge of tendering and contracting management.
- Sound knowledge of competitive tendering.
- Previous purchasing experience would be desirable.
- Demonstrated ability providing high quality customer service.
- Previous local government experience
