AWX are currently accepting expressions of interest for Pest Management Technicians to work in the outdoor environment as part of the National Red Imported Fire Ant (RIFA) Eradication Program.

The Opportunity

This role will be commencing this month, pending work and weather restrictions. Our Client will offer flexible working conditions (including possible weekend work) or a 9 day fortnight. You will cover different areas and terrains around the Lockyer Valley, Scenic Rim and Ipswich Local Government Areas and the South Western Suburbs of Brisbane.

Successful applicants will be provided with appropriate induction and training and will initially be partnered with an experienced technician.

Mandatory requirement:

You must possess a current Queensland Pest Management Technician Licence.

Your role will include, but not be limited to-

  • Plan day to day work in specific treatment activities, perform duties according to standard policies and work without direct supervision.
  • Ability to quickly attain a working knowledge and understanding of RIFA Treatment and Surveillance Protocols and Operating Procedures.
  • Treat and monitor RIFA infestations to ensure they are destroyed including assessing the population structure of RIFA nests.
  • Operate vehicles, machinery and equipment, observing recommended safety guidelines associated with chemical usage.
  • Communicate in a clear concise and effective manner with all levels of staff and members of the community and industry.

Following a successful interview, your AWX Induction will include:

  • Passing a Drug and alcohol screen
  • Completing a physical assessment
  • Supplying all supporting documentation for employment.
