Site Supervisor – Environmental Contracting and Vegetation Management
About us
Mac Hort is a family owned business that commenced operations in 2010. Our core business is vegetation management with a strong specialisation in environmental contracting. We have steadily grown our business and our service offering since our inception by ensuring we focus our efforts on providing a high quality, results driven business, backed by knowledge and understanding of our clients needs. The range of services we offer includes environmental and general weed control, tree work, parks and gardens maintenance, slashing, brush cutting, weed surveys and mapping, revegetation, erosion control and other general vegetation and landscape management services.
An opportunity has now become available within our business for a site supervisor to oversee daily on site operations. This includes supervising and contributing to the on ground works, ensuring jobs are completed to a high standard and to the specifications of the work order. Maintaining records for all work carried out and leading by example to create a positive culture within the business.
Please note that the work area does not include work on Kangaroo Island. All work is carried out within the Fleurieu Peninsula.
About you
You will possess excellent leadership skills, motivated, be physically fit and have the ability to manage and work alongside staff on a daily basis. Excellent time management and record keeping skills are essential and you will be someone who is able to instigate and create solutions when others around you are seeking guidance. You will also have a very strong emphasis on safety and be able to be responsible for the safety of yourself and others around you.
You will have an interest and knowledge in the natural flora of the Fleurieu Peninsula, enjoy working outdoors within this environment and take satisfaction in protecting the environment that you are working in. Ideally holding qualifications in Conservation and Land management, Horticulture or equivalent with a demonstrated experience in vegetation management.
In addition to having an understanding of vegetation management you will also recognise the importance of machinery and have more than a basic understanding of machinery maintenance, operation and the ability to problem solve and rectify minor machinery issues in the field.
Although being a primarily outdoor role, you will also be able to carry out administrative tasks, and assist with quoting and scheduling of upcoming workload as required.
Skills and tickets that will be highly regarded include,
- Full pest management technicians licence. 'Weed Control'
- Computer literacy utilising the Microsoft suite.
- Experience with GPS field units,
- Work Zone Traffic Control Accreditation.
- Current First Aid accreditation
- Completion of accredited Chainsaw training.
- Class MR Drivers Licence.
- Experience with data management of gps field units, geographical information systems, mapping etc.
- Any other vegetation management experience eg Parks and gardens, arborist work etc.
- Please list any other skills that you feel may be relevant to the position.
