Wickham Farms is a fourth-generation, family-owned business founded in 1972 that today operates growing the best potatoes and onions on farms across Queensland. We specialise in the supply of fresh loose and pre-packed potatoes. We also supply fresh vegetables such as potato, pumpkin and onion products to the manufacturing, wholesale and quick service food industry.
FARM MANAGER
Wickham Farms currently has a Farm Manager position available at our headquarters in Killarney QLD. Reporting to our Farms Director this will be a key management position in our business. You must have strong leadership and communication skills and the ability to make timely decisions based on strategic and continuous improvement goals.
Responsibilities include:
- Coordinating and leading employees
- Compiling and inputting records on the crops
- Ensuring the location is properly allocating resources and managing expenses, including maintaining the operations budget
- Ground preparation, planting, irrigation, fertilizer application, pest control, harvesting and grading ensuring maximum yield and quality are met for our potato/onion crops without compromising our quality standards.
- Monitoring and adhering to customer quality expectations to ensure their satisfaction
- Directing harvest operations and conducting off-season activities
- Monitoring of key quality controls, and meeting FreshCare and WHS requirements
Production agriculture & management experience is required. You must have a strong work ethic and the ability to manage the entire farming process. A strong knowledge in potato farming is desired but not essential. Experience in equipment management, irrigation, basic agronomy, budgeting, record keeping, and Microsoft software programs is advantageous.
