The Irrigation Manager is a key member of our Costa Corindi Berry Farm. We are looking for a talented irrigation systems technician to lead our Irrigation team and manage its day to day operations and interactions across our farm on the beautiful mid north coast of New South Wales.
About the role
At our berry farm, we harvest up to 5000 tonnes of berries each year. We are looking for an experienced and motivated leader to manage our irrigation operations for our berry crops grown in ground and substrate, including the design, planning, installation, monitoring and maintenance of all irrigation systems on site.
Key responsibilities include
- Lead the Irrigation team and manage its day to day operations and interactions on site.
- Monitor efficiency in the irrigation system, and maximise effectiveness of the system through process improvements and initiatives.
- Assist in design, planning and installation of system improvements and upgrades.
- Manage all maintenance (including preventative maintenance) and breakdowns on site to ensure effective assessment is completed and repairs are completed in a timely manner. Decommission irrigation systems as required.
- Manage inventory, including maintenance of accurate and detailed records of stock. Order materials as required.
- Support site irrigation operations to ensure development of technical skills and system knowledge.
- Monitor work health and safety requirements, and drive improvement in this area.
About you
We are looking for an Irrigation Manager who will perform well in our busy dynamic agribusiness. This role would suit someone with proven irrigation management experience in a large scale agricultural operation.
To be successful in this role you will have
- Proven experience in irrigation management, including monitoring, maintenance, and operations and contingency planning.
- Ability to effectively problem solve on an emergent basis, with the ability to make decisions quickly in a fast paced business.
- Excellent communication skills and proven ability to manage teams of workers from diverse backgrounds and roster work hours in accordance with irrigation requirements.
- Knowledge of PRIVA and Netafim irrigation control systems, hardware, software, plumbing and pumps would be considered desirable.
- A relevant trade qualification and agricultural irrigation experience would be highly regarded in the successful candidate.
- Willingness to work flexible hours is required in this role.
