Here is a wonderful opportunity to play a crucial role in further developing a niche but growing industry.  The peanut industry is keen to continue its expansion by providing excellent options for Queensland farming operations.  With the aim of increasing peanut production in central and southern Qld, they now seek an Agronomist to build agronomic expertise and communicate the benefits of peanut production within growers’ farming systems. 

As an Agronomist you will liaise closely with current growers, retail and consulting agronomists and government/RDC bodies, as well as crop protection/nutrition companies.  You will provide advice and a high level of service to existing and new growers and ensure all growers have access to peanut agronomy expertise.  You will also ensure agronomists’ technical expertise is current through direct communication or avenues such as workshops/field days.  Identifying key peanut agronomy research projects, liaising with third party research bodies or directly delivering these internally, will also be key to the further development of the industry.  

We are keen to hear from you if you possess the following:

• Tertiary qualifications in agronomy or similar
• Experience in Australian agricultural extension and a strong track record in providing agronomic advice to farmers
• A commercial mindset with outstanding interpersonal skills, including negotiation and liaison

This is a great industry development role, representing an industry which continues to expand its offerings and scope. The preferred base location is Kingaroy, however, consideration will be given to candidates based in Bundaberg, and a competitive salary will be negotiated with the successful candidate.
