This position will require you to work with animals and veterinarians, hospital staff and students. There will be an emphasis on the diagnostic imaging of horses, companion animals (mainly dogs and cats) and other species as required. Image modalities will include radiography, ultrasound, CT, and image intensifier. From time to time, the applicant maybe required to work with radioactive substances or sources of ionising radiation.

The successful applicant will be part a team providing technical and laboratory support for teaching, research and clinical services at the Veterinary Clinical Centre and the Veterinary Teaching Hospital in the School of Animal and Veterinary Sciences. The position, will include but is not limited to preparation and breakdown of classes, providing inductions and basic training for equipment, providing technical advice and guidance to facility users, the maintenance of inventories, and assistance with audits and risk management processes.

To be successful you will have:

  • Qualifications and experience as outlined in the position description
  • Demonstrated knowledge and proficiency in medical radiation science and physics, experience working with radioactive substances or sources of ionising radiation, and in the operation and maintenance of associated equipment
  • Proven ability to develop, assess and implement risk management systems within the work environment, including maintaining accurate records
