An outstanding opportunity exists for a Biosecurity Officer to work with Cook Shire Council.   This position will provide you with the opportunity to work at an operational level on weed and pest animal management across Cape York Peninsula.  Seeking a highly motivated, enthusiastic and engaging person who enjoys working in various settings, both office based and outdoors, and has a genuine interest in bioscurity management. 

This role provides a diverse and interesting range of responsibilities and you wil have the opportunity to work on many projects. 

Requirements include:

-Bachelor level qualification in a relevant discipline or working toward combined with equivalent relevant work experience.
- Experience and/or keen interest in weed and pest animal management and control practices.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills and the ability to prepare clear and accurate business reports.
- Proven computer competency.
- Current Class C Driver's Licence and willingness to travel throughout Cape York Peninsula.
- Current or capacity to obtain a Queensland Firearm's Licence - Classes A and B.
