About the Opportunity:
As we look to the future, we're more focused than ever on attracting the best talent for our organisation. We are currently seeking applications from experienced, resourceful and committed persons to join our Community Justice Program in the Goulburn area. Through this Program, we provide support to people with an intellectual or physical disability who have had contact with, or are at risk of entering, the Criminal Justice System. Support is provided through drop in and residential services to people with intellectual disability, cognitive deficit, personality disorder, or mild to serious mental illness to find significant benefit and work towards living independently in the community.
We are looking for Support Workers who can provide positive encouragement, help to build and develop relationships within the community, encourage life skills and inspire confidence in those around you.
Essential Criteria:
- Certificate 3 or 4 in Youth Work, Welfare, Disability or Community Services
- Experience working with complex trauma backgrounds
- Experience working with people who display difficult or challenging behaviours
- Ability to build rapport with Community programs and services
- Strong communication and reporting skills
- To be able to remain calm in high crisis situations
- Ability to work collaboratively in a complex environment as a member of a multidisciplinary team
- Drivers Licence
- First Aid Certificate or willingness to obtain one
- National Criminal history check clearance
- Ability to work weekdays, weekends, public holidays, morning, evening, night
Desirable Criteria:
- Experience working with people with disabilities and complex needs
