About the role
This position is responsible for providing high quality, intensive and effective case work for vulnerable children, young people and their families living in the Western Metropolitan Region and referred by Child Protection.
The Integrated Family Services Intensive (IFSI)/Integrated Family Services (IFS) Case Manager position reports to the Coordinator Integrated Family Services Footscray. The position is primarily based in our Footscray office. Some travel may be required.
This is a full-time position, where 0.8EFT is used for IFSI Case Manager duties and 0.2EFT is used for IFS Case Manager duties. This is a fixed-term, 2-year appointment.
Key responsibilities
- To provide an effective, intensive, high quality service which promotes the wellbeing and safety of vulnerable children and young people and their families to enable them to remain within or return to, their families.
- To establish collaborative relationships internally with Family Services and externally with Child Protection, OOHC, and with other relevant agencies.
- To ensure funding requirements are met and report on targets in a timely manner.
- To contribute to the development and review of the newly implemented IFSI Program within the team, the Region and more broadly.
About you
To be successful in this role you will have:
- Tertiary qualifications in social work, social policy, social studies, social history, health or an allied field.
- Considerable experience in engaging with people who have experienced childhood out-of-home care or separation from family of origin.
- Knowledge, understanding and appreciation of the history, policies and practices of child welfare in Australia.
- Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, with a demonstrated capacity to work collaboratively with others.
- Adaptability, flexibility and sensitivity to the needs of people, particularly where separation from family has occurred.
- Demonstrated knowledge of state and federal privacy legislation.
- Understanding and commitment to the objectives and values of the organisation and a capacity to represent MacKillop views as required by the role.
