An exciting opportunity is available in our Youth Services team of health professionals for the position of Youth Worker - headspace Morwell. Reporting to the Manager Youth Services and Primary Prevention, your role will be essential to the delivery of case management and practical support for young people.
headspace centres aim to create highly accessible, youth friendly, integrated service hubs that provide evidence based interventions and support to young people aged 12–25 years. headspace provides young people with access to services and community supports to assist them to develop and maintain the skills and confidence to live healthy and happy lives. headspace also engages in community awareness and seeks to develop and implement innovative programs to improve the mental health and wellbeing of young people in the Latrobe City with a visiting presence in the Baw Baw Shire.
A day in the life of this role might look like;
- Providing case management support to a young person who needs assistance to access housing, vocational, education or other supports
- Providing some one on one short term interventions for young people with low level mental health needs
- Creating and conducting group activities in areas such as independent living, health and fitness or social engagement and connection
- Co-facilitating the headspace Morwell Youth Reference Group (YRG)
- Participating in national campaigns and youth events in schools and other community groups
- Support the delivery of positive mental health messaging in schools and the broader community
- Attend weekly clinical intake and case review meetings
- Engage with peer supervision activities and one on one external supervision
To be successful in this role, the ideal applicant will have:
- An undergraduate degree in a related field
- Experience in the provision of psycho-education in community settings
