We are looking for an enthusiastic, resilient and compassionate Department Manager Education and Consultancy to lead a team of exceptional Consultants and Education Officers who, through their work with our business partners, improve the quality of life for those on the dementia journey.

The Role

The Department Manager Education and Consultancy provides strategic and effective leadership and management to the Education and Consultancy Department. 

Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and forming part of the Senior Leadership Team who are jointly responsible for the decision making and direction of the Organisation, this position leads the Department and is supported by the Education Manager and Consultancy Manager.

Crucial to this role is the ability to lead, consolidate and grow the department’s reputation, work and market share.  This will be achieved by the delivery of sustainable programs, the identification and acquisition of new or recurrent business and astute human resource and financial management.

The incumbent will have a personal commitment to the Vision, Purpose, Philosophy and Values of the organisation and provide positive and professional leadership to the Education and Consultancy teams, and across the organisation.  They will have empathy and concern for the welfare of people with dementia, their families, carers and the range of other people providing care and services to people with dementia. 

Essential for success is the ability to embrace and foster the work ethic and culture of the organisation based on a person centred management practice, and be committed to the ethos, philosophy, service standards, policies and procedures of the organisation.

Your duties as the Department Manager Education and Consultancy will include, but not be limited to:

  • Provide positive and professional leadership to the Education and Consultancy department and across the organisation
  • Consolidate and grow Alzheimer’s WA’s Education and Consultancy reputation, work and market share
  • Lead the identification and acquisition of new or recurrent business in line with the Education and Consultancy department business and growth strategy
  • Lead and manage Education and Consultancy Managers
  • Participate in the work of the strategic leadership team
  • Ensure sustainability of programs through financial monitoring, budget management and securing funding growth.
  • Set performance indicators and operational plans for all programs, that are in keeping with the organisation’s strategic direction, and monitor the performance of each
  • Drive management strategies, including the monitoring and preparation of reports and KPIs relating to department activity
  • Ensure organisations commitment and adherence to Alzheimer’s WA’s person centred philosophy and practice in dementia care
  • Ensure that models used in the delivery of services and projects are evidence based, best practice, person centred and evaluated as appropriate
  • Ensure the department is operating with efficient time management to achieve maximum chargeable hours
  • Ensure the organisation meets its statutory and contractual obligations as they relate to the responsibilities of programs managed by the position

Selection Criteria

As the successful Department Manager Education and Consultancy, you will have:

Essential

  1. Relevant professional qualification
  2. Strong business development skills or commercial background
  3. Demonstrated financial management and budgeting experience
  4. Demonstrated ability to seek and develop new, and maintain existing, relationships to achieve strategic business objectives and to convert these relationships into opportunities for the business
  5. Demonstrated ability to seek out and gain funding, grants, tenders and proposals
  6. Demonstrated ability to meet growth and contract targets
  7. Clear understanding and commitment to person centred philosophy and practice
  8. Demonstrated management experience in managing the culture and performance of teams and a variety of programs and services
  9. Well-developed verbal and written skills including the ability to communicate information clearly and accurately
  10. Commitment and understanding of Alzheimer’s WA’s Vision, Purpose, Philosophy and Values
  11. Knowledge and experience of business practices as they apply to delivering services
  12. Current Police Clearance

Desirable

  1. Knowledge and experience of the lived experience of dementia and dementia related services.
  2. Project management experience.
  3. RTO or other educational service experience
