About the role:
The role of Community Development Worker at annecto ‘David House’ is responsible for providing a range of educational and / or recreation Programs to participants with an intellectual/Physical disability. This position provides support to all participants and their families and carers who receive a service from David House. As a Community Development worker you will be working closely with the Coordinator – Learning and Life-Style ensuring the plan is responsive to the needs of the people we support and accurately reflects the person’s aspirations. You will be required to actively participate in the development, implementation and evaluation of programs according to the participants’ individual needs and choice as per Policy and procedures whilst delivering services in a manner which is sensitive to the culturally and Linguistically Diverse backgrounds of the participant.
What we need from you:
- Positive attitudes towards disability and community inclusion and familiarity with relevant policy and current trends in the field of Intellectual/ Physical disability
- Previous experience within not for profit / disability sector would be advantageous
- An understanding of the principals involved in dealing with challenging behaviours
- Tertiary qualifications in education, disability or equivalent (minimum Certificate IV in disability is preferred)
- High level of interpersonal and written communication skills
- Experience in the preparation and development of program documentation
- Ability to work as part of a team and contribute to the team in a professional manner
- Current level 2 workplace first aid and CPR
What would be great to have?
- Well-developed report writing skills
