About the business and the role
City East College is seeking expressions of interest from qualified and passionate English language teachers to deliver a range of English language courses to adult learners in City East region of Sydney. Hours are negotiable and based on demand.
Job tasks and responsibilities
Teaching and assessing a range of accredited and non-accredited English language courses, including General English, IELTS and PTE Preparation, English for Job seekers and accredited units from CSWE and Foundation Skills Packages.
Skills and experience
Essential Criteria:
- Current Certificate IV Training and Assessment (TAE40110 or TAE40116)
- One of the following:
- a recognised bachelor degree and a postgraduate qualification in TESOL or Applied Linguistics OR
- a Bachelor of Education with a TESOL major that includes a practicum of at least 100 hours
- At least 100 hours teaching English as a Second Language (ESL) or Adult Literacy/Numeracy during the last 3 years
- Demonstrated ability to develop a professional rapport with students from non-English speaking backgrounds
- Passionate about helping students reach their goals
- Excellent organisational skills and ability to deliver training with assessment deadlines
- A high level of computer literacy
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
Desirable:
- Familiar with a range of nationally accredited curricula such as CSWE and FSK
- Experience teaching IELTS and/or PTE preparation courses
- Experience teaching employability and job seeking skills.
