About the role:
Thales Australia provides logistics services expertise to our customer, the Australian Defence Force. The logistics business provides storage, maintenance and distribution to the Department of Defence in an ongoing contractual agreement.
Reporting to the regional manager, you will primarily be responsible for ensuring the safe and efficient performance of the team at Darwin, comprising of up to 25 employees, ensuring that we are at all times compliant with the logistics contract and applicable Major Hazardous Facility legislation.
As a strong communicator, you will be interacting at all levels of the business whilst utilising your expertise in logistics services.
Within the logistics services business, there are 17 depots throughout Australia which allows various development opportunities as we strongly believe in promoting from within where possible.
Key Responsibilities:
- Manage the coordination of resources and equipment for the conduct of depot operations activities
- Ensure compliance with Thales and Defence controls, procedures and policies
- Manage the operation and maintenance of government furnished equipment and Thales equipment for the EO (Explosive Ordnance) Depot
- Provide guidance and assistance in the training and development of staff
- Assist with the coordination of reporting and investigation of all incidents and near misses in accordance with EO Services procedures
- Coordinate the preparation and timely submission of administrative reports, returns and documentation
- Assist Regional Manager with staff performance management
- Assist the Regional Manager in maintaining and developing effective organisational systems and procedures, with the aim of improving depot efficiency and effectiveness
Key Skills and Experience:
- Qualified to minimum diploma level in logistics or relevant industry
- Demonstrated experience in personnel management (including introducing changes in accordance to organisational goals)
- Excellent written & verbal communication skills
- Previous experience in leadership and coaching of personnel
- Previous experience within a Defence environment would be a real bonus
Special Requirements:
- You must be able to obtain an Australian Defence Security Clearance
- A police check and medical are required for this role
