MTI Group has, over the last 20 years, built and occupied a market leading position in the design, development and subsequent manufacture and distribution of a superior range of drill and blast consumables and products.  Leading its space in Australia, in recent years it has also grown significantly in Africa and the US and has further exciting plans for continued expansion, both geographically and in terms of its product range. 

As a result of this continued growth and product development, a role has arisen for a Laboratory Technician at the company’s laboratory in Weston, country NSW.  This laboratory provides chemical testing procedures to support the Australian mining industry in achieving safe and efficient blasting.

Reporting to the NSW Manager, in this role you will be, in part, responsible for communicating with customers from first contact to final reporting.   You will be also be responsible for scheduling, performing and reporting of test work; assisting with identifying and implementing improvements to the lab, to help ensure the lab operates in an efficient, traceable, accurate and precise manner; contributing to the growth in services and revenue (eventually); organisation of  resources, performance of  calibrations, scheduling and undertaking of preventative maintenance.  Training where necessary, and as appropriate, will be provided.

You will ideally have a BSc in Chemistry (or equivalent) and, ideally, possess some experience in a similar environment.  You will be familiar with ISO 9001 or NATA accreditations and have the ability to obtain an Unsupervised Handling Licence for Security Sensitive Ammonium Nitrate (if you are not in the possession of one). A high level of experience with Microsoft Excel is also expected.
