Westgold is currently the 6th largest domestic gold producer in Australia, currently producing ~300,000oz per annum of gold and has production expanding to well over 400,000oz per annum. The company has four processing facilities and multiple underground and open pit projects combining for a production capability of 6.5mtpa.

Operations within the Westgold Group expand throughout the Eastern Goldfields and Murchison regions. Westgold are owner operator across our underground, open cut and processing areas, creating a high volume and wide variety of employment opportunities.

The Role

This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced Mine Surveyor to be involved in the start-up of a Open Pit and Underground project. Reporting to the Chief Mine Surveyor and working as part of a small team in a hands on role you will be responsible for assisting the survey department undertake all site survey requirements for both the multi-pit and underground aspects of the operation. This position is based at our Day Dawn operation located 5km outside the township of Cue which will include an Open Pit Operation with an Underground decline to access the open pit, providing a rare opportunity on an 8/6 roster.

Positions responsibilities will include:

  • Schedule, prioritise and undertake surveying tasks in a timely manner
  • Establish and maintain accurate survey control networks both surface and underground
  • Survey control of all mining and geological design to a high standard
  • Detail surveys of open pit and underground development to ensure timely reporting
  • Waste dump, exploration and miscellaneous surveying associated with the project
  • Updating mine models, mining plans and statutory plans
  • Survey and compilation of stockpile and mine production reports
  • Maintaining high levels of communication between departments
  • Promotion of a safe, healthy, cooperative and productive work environment

Qualifications, Education and Experience:

  • Tertiary Qualification – Degree or Advanced Diploma in Surveying
  • Relevant Open Pit and Underground mine production survey experience
  • Competent in the use of Surpac software, Trimble GPS and Leica survey equipment
  • Strong computer literacy skills and excellent communication skills with all levels of operation
  • Sound knowledge and understanding of Mines Regulations, OH&S and Duty of Care
  • Proactive and self-motivated attitude
  • Current "C" class manual drivers licence
