We are a genuinely integrated creative agency, offering in-house expertise in branding, strategy, design, digital and content.

We're looking for a dynamic and dedicated account acquisition and relationship specialist, with a demonstrated track record in successful new business development (lead generation and conversion) and client retention in marketing communications or creative services.

This is a unique opportunity to join an established and growing team of creatives, developers, strategists, and content specialists with a passion for bringing creative and technical ideas to life.

The Business Development Manager role is responsible for identifying and landing new strategic opportunities for Grindstone, and helping to manage a diverse base of key existing clients in areas such as government, health, and professional services.

It is supported by a portfolio of high quality creative and digital work to leverage opportunities with new prospects and convert them into new accounts, as well as identifying new strategies for current clients.
 

Who you are.

To be successful in this role, you will have a deep familiarity with the management of strategic, integrated marketing and new business development in a creative or digital agency setting. Or, you will have expertise in business development and account management in a different sphere along with demonstrable expertise in marketing or creative services. Whatever your experience, your capability to sell creative and digital services is epic. Ideally you have a solid understanding of content and brand strategy and professional writing skills would be highly advantageous. In addition:

  • You have significant experience working on integrated marketing accounts, with demonstrable results.
  • You have amazing strategic thinking, leadership and presentation skills, backed up by business nous and a flair for negotiating and managing budgets.
  • You can manage a sales pipeline and report on leads and sales to the Directors.
  • You are a problem solver with a ‘can-do’ attitude, and the ability to inspire our whole team to be the same.
  • You can expertly analyse prospect/customer needs.
  • You are extremely flexible and versatile by nature.
  • You're a people person who believes in the power of creativity to change the world.
  • A superb and intuitive communicator, you have strong verbal and written skills as well as natural leadership qualities, impeccable organisational capability and a collaborative approach. You can pitch creative ideas to clients in a compelling way.
  • You have substantial experience and qualifications in business development and client service, with a strong understanding of marketing and preferably experience in creative/digital services in an agency setting. You are familiar with CRM software or sales management methodologies.
  • You are highly familiar with creative and digital development processes or can prove in your application that your understanding of integrated marketing means you can get up to speed, speedily.
  • You have high level project management skills.

Working closely with the Directors, General Manager, Digital Producer and Account Managers, you'll be our chief in charge of Grindstone's business pipeline. You'll bring a swag of ideas about how to generate and convert new leads and will be able to shape your role and influence the future shape of our client portfolio. This is a senior role and we are offering a generous salary package commensurate with your level of expertise, with the opportunity for you to be incentivised based on business profitability targets being achieved.

Grindstone is located in a light-filled, repurposed warehouse in Geelong West, 2 minutes' walk from the station, Pakington St and central Geelong, a short drive from the Surf Coast and 45 minutes from Melbourne.
