The University is seeking a high quality individual with excellent knowledge and experience to manage and develop the University’s Payments Team ensuring that financial compliance is maintained whilst driving efficiency of processes.

Delivery of a high quality customer focused service is expected of the team that the successful candidate will lead and develop. 

The Payments Team Manager is expected to ensure that payments to suppliers are made to contractual terms. They will also deliver a high quality service ensuring that the team are trained in, and operate, the latest payment methods and are performing to high standards.

The University has a small central Procurement Team but also operates devolved purchasing and therefore good relationship management is essential with internal customers in addition to external suppliers. The promotion of the service across the University and the active management of potential risk are key features of the role, ensuring strong financial controls are in place and operating effectively. The post holder will work closely with colleagues in the Procurement team to help deliver the potential strategic buying efficiencies that have been identified by ensuring supplier relationships are enhanced by prompt invoice payment.

To apply for the role you should have proven experience of service management and development in a similar role. You will have evidence of your team leadership and change management skills. Excellent people management skills will be expected including coaching, motivation and managing performance.

The post holder will have the ability to understand, interpret and improve business and administrative processes. You will possess excellent interpersonal and communication skills and will be able to make a wide contribution to the whole Financial Services area.
