We are a small family owned and operated New Zealand tourism business, offering luxury boutique-cruising in Milford Sound and Fiordland.
We are looking for an enthusiastic and adventurous people to join our small crew aboard our new and luxurious 5-star boat, the Fiordland Jewel.
Skipper
An exciting opportunity has arisen for a qualified Skipper to join the Fiordland Discovery Team in our Milford Sound Operation. There is the opportunity for an immediate start during our Winter overnight season and we are also looking for suitable applicants for our Summer 2018-19 season.
Reporting to the Head Skipper, this role is responsible for ensuring we deliver an outstanding experience and safe journey for our customers.
Working on a roster of 7 days on and 7 off, with the potential for some charter work in the southern Fiords during our charter season.
Will be responsible for the following:
Duties:
• Leading and motivating your crew to deliver outstanding guest experience within the highest possible Health & Safety standards
• Responsible for carrying out crew training, safety drills and regular safety reviews
• Providing excellent customer service to our visitors and giving them an enjoyable and memorable stay
• Delivering an outstanding customer experience which includes commentary and the ability to interact with visitors
• Managing passenger & crew safety on board at all times
• Performing day-to-day upkeep of the vessel, including oil and filter changes
• Assist with documentation reviews and updates as required
Skills, Experience and Attributes:
• You must hold a New Zealand or Australian Skippers ticket - preferably either a ring fenced CLM/ILM ticket or SRL ticket for a vessel up to 24 meters.
• .Excellent communication skills for commentary delivery
• Ability to successfully lead and support a team
• Ability to work both under direction and without supervision
• Due to the remote location of the operation a can-do, problem solving attitude definitely an advantage.
• Passion for the natural environment of Fiordland
Remuneration
Remuneration will be based on the experience and ticket the candidate holds.
The position includes accommodation/food whilst employed and stationed on the vessel.
