We want to continue to uphold the reputation and integrity of the government's statutory authority for fiscal strategy and have an opportunity for a Manager Fiscal Reporting to join our team.

This role is in the corporate centre of government and you will be responsible for leading a team of crown consolidation finance professionals to ensure the delivery of a range of fiscal reporting related outputs. These outputs cover the spectrum from core operational and reporting related outputs through to policy related outputs, with an emphasis on both high quality fiscal reporting and analysis and keeping NZ at the forefront of developments in international accounting practice.

The Fiscal Reporting team work within the Treasury and externally to:

• Provide advice on the most complex and sensitive fiscal issues across the Crown;
• Continue to develop and drive the public sector implementation of New Zealand's financial reporting frameworks
• Work to improve financial management capability across the sector;
• Prepare the Financial Statements of Government, and
• Forecast and analyse the Government's aggregate fiscal position

The numbers are big, the range of issues is even bigger - from pure public policy to insurance to commercial, and often the issues are complex/or with little precedent.

About You

• Professionally qualified Chartered Accountant with significant relevant accounting skills with respect to the team's outputs
• Excellent engagement and communication skills that enable you to be clear, persuasive and influential when discussing highly technical matters with Ministers and a range of stakeholders
• The ability to build cohesive and high performing teams that deliver collective results within a complex environment with tight deadlines
• Continuous improvement focus for financial reporting and financial management
• Demonstrate an understanding of managing complex financial systems and consolidations
