Rocket Foods, formerly Rocket Kitchen Wholesale, are looking for an experienced sales professional to devise and implement our sales programme.  This role is newly created and will appeal to a driven person looking for that unique chance to carve that next career step with a bit of excitement and lots of challenge along the way. 

Rocket Foods is a boutique manufacturer of high quality cakes/sweet and savoury products, along with a rapidly growing range of cookies.  Customer base is the major food groups/supermarkets and premium aspirational food retail, plus delicatessen & cafes.  The business is rapidly expanding from the increased demand for premium high-end foods.  To meet this demand a new state of the art production facility is being built in Penrose where both Rocket Foods and Ma Cherie will operate.  Rocket Foods is also the proud Principal Partner of Rowing New Zealand.

Our medium sized entrepreneurial business is ready to take the next step with big plans for growth across all the channels we operate in.  The Rocket Foods brand is already well loved and well ‘consumed’. We are looking for a sales leader to implement best practice systems, processes & structure while building and engaging with the wider business and, of course, our great customers.

The role reports to our Group General Manager based in our Penrose offices.

Scope of role

  • Devise and implement a sales programme for Rocket Foods product lines to realise growth within a target customer segment to grow customers, revenue and products ranged
  • Draw up a delivery action plan that executes the developed sales objectives
  • Establish a call cycle; prioritise opportunities; get the programme off the ground and then recruit and develop your own sales team
  • Present sales, revenue reports and realistic forecasts to management
  • Identify emerging markets and market shifts, while being fully aware of new products and competition status
  • Work collaboratively with all the team

What you’ll need to succeed

  • An attitude of rolling up your sleeves to do whatever is necessary to get the job done
  • Proven successful experience as a sales professional or sales manager consistently meeting or exceeding targets
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate, present and influence credibly and effectively to both customers and internally at all levels of the business
  • Proven ability to set and drive the sales process from plan to close
  • Strong commercial acumen and business aptitude
  • Resilient, adaptable and able to think on your feet in this fast paced environment
  • Team Leadership – able to lead, coach and develop
  • Ideally an understanding of food service, bakery or delicatessen sectors (or at least the desire and drive to quickly become immersed in this sector)
  • Microsoft Office skills, with solid Excel skills
