Are you keen to build your career in HR? Do you have a tertiary qualification in HR and just need the right opportunity? Or maybe you’ve worked in HR within a smaller organisation and now you’re ready to take you next step in a large, complex environment. 

We have a great opportunity as an HR Advisor within our National Office Corporate Services group that will give you the opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast paced HR team.

The Department of Corrections is a core part of New Zealand’s Justice Sector and manages custodial and community-based sentences imposed by the Courts. Our vision is to improve public safety and reduce re-offending through strong leadership, capable staff, a safe working environment and effective partnerships. 

Our HR team is driven and committed to delivering key initiatives to improve performance, providing excellent operational support and advice, raising capability and engaging with all areas of the organisation. 

What we want 

We are looking for a confident, results orientated, human resource professional to be part of our team. Reporting to a Principal Business Partner, you will provide general HR advice and support to line managers across one or more National Office Groups by drawing on your previous experience and knowledge to assist them to meet their business objectives. 

As the successful applicant you will be able to demonstrate: 

  • Experience in providing HR advice and support to managers on a range of HR issues, including change management and ER matters. 
  • A proven ability to proactively develop, foster and maintain excellent working partnerships with stakeholders and management at all levels. 
  • The ability to work through complex issues to determine the most appropriate solution.
