PHP / Laravel specialist

Want your work to have a positive impact across New Zealand? This is a unique opportunity to become an integral member of a small, focussed and highly skilled development team tasked developed a solution that will operate nationwide within the education sector. 

Digital Journey is on the hunt for a dedicated Full Stack PHP Web Developer to join our team.  We envisage this being a full- time role for a period of 12 months with an opportunity to move to a full-time position. But we're open to ideas and we are flexible for the right candidate. 

This opportunity is only available for those who are legally allowed to work in New Zealand and can base themselves in Christchurch.

You’ll work under the supervision of a project manager and Digital Journey’s lead developer, in an agile development environment.

A strong working understanding of Laravel + VueJS + is essential, in this role. If you know the ins-and-outs of Laravel 5.6 and can bundle Vue / Sass through Webpack into powerful and pleasing web interfaces – you’ve got the technical skills we need. Our dream candidate will also be well versed in GIT, the command line and write clean documentable code, which adheres to modern web standards and security conventions.

 

Essential technical skills:

  • Advanced PHP programming
  • 3+ years working in the Laravel framework
  • Build tools like Gulp and Webpack
  • JS
  • MySQL
  • Working knowledge of RESTful API integration
  • Ajax (particularly Axios as an HTTP client)
  • GIT

Bonus points for candidates who have…

  • A grasp of jQuery, CSS toolkits, PHPUnit
  • Experience working in Agile Development projects
  • Know your way around a Terminal.

We fund this work through digital training, coaching and consultancy work around New Zealand and with the support of partners such as Spark, Chorus and MBIE.

We’re based in Christchurch and operate from the GreenHouse at 146 Lichfield St – that means a stimulating work environment, interesting people, tons of coffee, dumplings and Sal’s Pizza either in the office or just metres away down the stairs!
