Summary

Casual roles are to cover leave for permanent Support Workers - the hours of work are not regular and are offered when they become available. We operate 24 hours a day, 7 days a week. 

The shifts are:

  • Awake night shifts: 10.45pm - 7.15am
  • Morning shifts: 7.00am - 3.30pm
  • Afternoon shifts: 2.30pm - 11.00pm

As a casual support worker, you will be working across our services: respite, residential and recovery, which are based in Wellington, Johnsonville, Tawa, Whitby and Titahi Bay.  As majority of the services are not on reliable bus routes that align with shift start and end times, you will need to have your own transport for getting to work.

As a Casual Support Worker you might be working at a variety of different tasks, in respite supporting up to four guests with medication support, providing a listening ear for long periods at times; maintaining a large home; cleaning, cooking and serving healthy attractive meals, hosting clinical teams, in residential you will be beside the person supporting with appointments, shopping, cleaning, medication etc.

You will be required to work in a team, have good computer skills, and a ‘Whatever It Takes’ attitude, be
able to cook, clean and do gardening.

The team

You’ll be reporting to the Team Coach and joining our Pathways Wellington team who all have the common purpose to support people experiencing mental illness.

 

You

If you have a caring nature, work in a recovery focused way, are able to provide medication support and have impeccable attention to detail then we would love to hear from you. As we work in partnership with our DHB, you would need to be keen to foster relationships by hosting them in our service. 

You will also need:

  • You must hold a current full driver’s licence
  • Do you hold a current first aid certificate or are you willing to obtain one
  • Applicants must hold the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) or a recognised equivalent.  Alternatively, you will commence study towards this within six months of starting your employment with Pathways. This needs to be completed within two years of commencement. Pathways offers significant support for support workers to complete this study.
  • To work in respite/acute services applicants must hold the New Zealand Certificate in Health and Wellbeing (NZCHW) or a recognised equivalent or be currently studying towards this qualification or a recognised equivalent.
  • Able to be flexible and available for varying shifts
