Your passion for teaching, people skills and technology savvy, are the keys to helping some pretty amazing New Zealanders live their best lives. The Blind Foundation works one-on-one with their clients to deliver training and tools that help them achieve their communication and technology goals, gaining vital independence and confidence as a result. For you this is an opportunity to use your unique training abilities in a new area and gain some exciting new skills along the way, while feeling enormously satisfied with the work you do each and every day!
This is a pretty special training role that will take you from assessment of clients needs and identifying goals to recommending solutions and delivering the training that will help get them there. This will involve training in hardware, software and techniques - which could be smart phones, tablets and ceras one day to ZoomText and Jaws the next. You can expect variety, time in the office and getting out-and-about with a region that extends from Wellington to the Hutt, New Plymouth, Palmerston North and Hawkes Bay. Sometimes that will involve staying overnight or travelling out of hours, but the Blind Institue have you covered with flexi-time.
To join them, you'll need to be proficient in one-on-one training, have outstanding communication skills and the ability to self-manage a challenging caseload. Deadline driven, highly organised and meticulous at record keeping, your IT savvy and interest in technology will be complemented by a thirst for learning and the personal drive to keep developing professionally. Naturally a willingness to travel from time-to-time is essential.
