MEGT Apprenticeship Network Provider (ANP) is contracted to deliver Industry Specialist Mentoring for Australian Apprentices (ISMAA) undertaking qualifications in the construction, automotive and childcare industries. The aim of the ISMAA program is to increase the supply of skilled workers in industries undergoing structural change, with the intention of increasing retention and completion rates.

Industry Mentors within this program will have trade qualifications and experience specific to the industry, knowledge of the workplace and training context of Australian Apprenticeships in that industry, and an understanding of the structural changes applicable to the industry.

About the Role

Based in our Parramatta Office, this is your opportunity to work for our ANP Division as an Industry Mentor in Automotive. 

In this rewarding full-time opportunity, you will be primarily responsible for working with the Program Manager to ensure that Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) set via the ISMAA Contract are achieved in all areas.

Please note: This is a fixed-term position ending December 2019.

Reporting to the ISMAA Program Manager, this role requires an operator with experience and expertise in the automotive industry, including the impacts of structural changes and how this relates to Australian Apprenticeship pathways. In addition, the role requires a good understanding of the workplace and training context of Australian Apprenticeships in the industry, and good mentoring skills with the ability to build rapport with Australian Apprentices, employers and other relevant stakeholders.

Selection Criteria

  • experience in and detailed knowledge of the relevant industry is essential, including current trends and structural/transitional change and how this relates to Australian Apprenticeships pathways
  • a good understanding of the workplace and training context of Australian Apprenticeships in the relevant industry
  • strong mentoring and guidance skills, with an ability to display empathy and act as a positive role model for apprentices
  • demonstrated communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport and maintain relationships, including fostering relationships between employers and their apprentices
  • ability to identify appropriate solutions and provide assistance, including referral to specialist organisations.

Current driver licence is required.

An attractive base salary, plus a fully maintained company vehicle, smart phone, laptop, 9.5% superannuation and 17.5% leave loading will be on offer to the successful candidate.

The successful applicant will be required to undertake a Police Check and any State/Territory Working with Children Check (where applicable).
