The Darwin Convention Centre is offering a rare and very exciting opportunity for a suitably qualified and experienced Sous Chef to come and join our dynamic team. Reporting to the Executive Chef, you will assist in delivering the catering needs of guests of the Darwin Convention Centre through the efficient and effective management of our kitchen operations. The Darwin Convention Centre is ISO 22000 Certified so applicants must be competent in this level of food safety.
The person we are looking for will:-
- Maintain consistency within the Food and Beverage Department through supporting the Executive Chef in all aspects of the kitchen operation, including administration.
- Oversee food production and service for all events in the absence of/or under the direction of the Executive Chef.
- Assist with the rostering of Kitchen staff on a weekly basis.
- Develop menus in conjunction with the Executive Chef and Client Services Manager which are relevant to client needs and market trends.
- Ensure the production of a quality product by adhering to purchasing procedures and standards.
- Demonstrate excellent attention to detail and possess an uncompromising attitude towards high quality food and presentation.
- Possess an understanding of the requirements of food safety and the necessary standards in maintaining a safe and hygienic environment.
- Possess strong communication skills.
