The Business

A global bank with a blend of retail and wholesale operations, and a strong foothold in its markets across ANZ. The business is situated in state-of-the-art CBD offices, recently renovated to feature smart working spaces.

The Team

Your new team is a compliance success story, having been built from the ground up over a number of years, by an experienced industry leader. The compliance framework has reached a level of maturity which highlights the bank's engagement with, and commitment to, a proactive governance culture.

The Role

This is a highly visible, broad role in a lean team, so you can expect to be challenged. Your activity in the post are likely to change in accordance with the regulatory environment, and as your responsibilities grow, but the day-to-day can be summarised as follows:

In each area, you will find yourself managing a range of projects, from creating frameworks, to handling ad hoc queries and incidents, to turning complex data into strategic messages for key stakeholders.

The Ideal Candidate

In order to succeed in the role, you will need to be a versatile, adaptable compliance professional with strong financial services experience. As the team is evolving, and has undergone positive change in recent years, your new manager is flexible in terms of hiring approach, but you will ideally feel that the following describes you accurately:

  • 10 years' experience in a challenging compliance role
  • Significant banking and financial services exposure, across a range of products and jurisdictions
  • Expert in licensing and ASIC requirements, AFSL, and the Corporations Act
  • Hands-on complaints exposure and a working knowledge of TCF
  • An understanding of the NZ regulatory environment would be a huge advantage
  • Excellent communicator, whether writing and delivering technical training, dealing with regulators or presenting to senior stakeholders
  • A value-add manager, able to coach and develop, training team members on the job
