Shepparton News are looking for a motivated, budding photographer to join our busy newsroom as a first-year cadet. 

You will not be required to have formal qualifications in photography, however you will have sound camera skills, passion for photography and a willingness to undertake a three-year training program. This role is perfect for recent school leavers who are looking to start their career in the media or for someone with a keen interest in photography looking for an exciting career change. 

As you will constantly be out and about, assisting our journalists or undertaking photographic assignments of your own, a strong interest and passion for the people and issues within the community is paramount, as is the ability to quickly establish connections and relationships. 

We require a good team player, someone who is self-motivated, can prioritise tasks, hit deadlines and juggle multiple jobs, and who will also bring fresh ideas to the table. Sound writing, research and news gathering skills would be an advantage.

A valid driver’s licence and the ability to work flexible hours including weekends, evenings and public holidays are essential.

Cadet rates apply: 28,500 base + Super + Loadings. Please note that those with university degrees in photography are not eligible to apply for this cadet role.
