We are currently looking for a Business and Performance Portfolio Manager to join a large federal government owned organisation in their senior leadership group. The goal of this role is to run an IT services portfolio that is endorsed and funded and encapsulates both the annual operation budget and investment plan as well as the provision of accurate management reports helping the decision making process.

 The role covers two key aspects:

 - Financial Management: Leading the overall financial management function that supports the provision of services, drives the financial planning process and standards to support the execution of strategy, negotiates, sets and manages financial budgets and targets, ensuring that there is adequate funding for all targets and plans, especially to meet development and capacity needs as well as  analyses expenditure, explains variances, and determines options in use of available budget to meet real needs.

 - Portfolio Management: Leading the application of a framework to define and deliver a portfolio of programmes. This includes the implementation of strategic investment appraisals and decision making processes as well as the monitoring and review of Portfolio performance and implementing effective government performance.  

Additionally you will be leading the centre of excellence with specific focus on continually improving the tools, process, techniques and templates in line with organisational frameworks ensuring the improvement of program and project delivery, to enable the PMO to deliver the value it was set up for.

The successful candidate brings a strong proven track record in a similar role of similar complexity, a strong finance acumen as well applied techniques for monitoring and improving the quality of a business functions or processes. This will include the maintenance of compliance with national standards, internal policies/frameworks together with ensuring adequate technology, procedures and resources are in place to drive continuous improvement.
