ERA is one of the largest uranium producers in the world. Veolia’s role is to process the water from the tailings dam so that it can be released into the local environment via a wetland.
 
About the Role
 
An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Process Engineer to join our team at the Ranger Mine in Jabiru, Northern Territory. The successful candidate will play a critical role, responsible for managing the performance of the Brine Concentrator and Power Plant, with special emphasis on exceeding the plant production KPI of 1.83 GL of distillate water per annum while meeting all safety and environmental KPIs.
 
The successful candidate will 
  • Ensure that all plant processes are operated effectively and efficiently and that all contractual compliance and KPIs are met
  • Provide process and lab training to operations staff
  • Set up key operating performance set points
  • Provide technical process expertise to the O&M team
  • Provide technical liaison with the client
  • Preparation of Annual Operating Strategy and monthly process reports.
  • Undertake troubleshooting and problem solving processes to maintain plant performance
  • Rectify process defects and implement measures to achieve performance improvements and cost reductions
  • Identify and deliver projects to improve plant performance
  • Interface with Veolia National Office technical support
  •  Manage all internal and external sampling and testing requirements
  • Act up into the Operations Managers role, in their absence
Applicants must possess:
  • Tertiary qualifications in chemical engineering, chemistry or industrial chemistry
  • Demonstrated experience in operations of water treatment plants (or related plants)
  • Demonstrated experience with quality assurance, OH&S and environmental systems
  • Understanding of water treatment process operations or related industrial/mining processes
  • Laboratory analytical skills and knowledge of sample collection methods
  • Extensive knowledge in hot water process systems (or related processes)
  • Understands the mining culture and willingness to live in the Jabiru township (house supplied with position) and become part of the community or FIFO from Darwin
  • Demonstrated effective written and oral communication skills
  • The ability to work in a team environment
  • Problem solving ability
  • Planning and organisational ability
  • Enthusiastic and self-motivated
  • Ability to utilise relevant computer software applications (MS Office suite)
  • Motor vehicle drivers licence
 
This position is located in Jabiru in the Northern Territory. Successful candidates must have an understanding of mining culture and a willingness to live in a remote community or FIFO from Darwin.
 
For applicants that elect to reside in Jabiru, accommodation is supplied with the position and depending on the size of the home the monthly rent will range from $80 to $150 per month. Relocation assistance will be provided if required.
