The Smith Family is a national, independent children’s charity helping disadvantaged Australians to get the most out of their education, so they can create better futures for themselves. We are currently seeking an expert in Direct Marketing and Fundraising to join our growing team.

Reporting to the Head of Marketing and working with a dedicated and passionate team, this high-energy pivotal role will direct the development and implementation of The Smith Family’s cash appeal activity and face-to-face supporter acquisition program. Through increasing the number and value of active supporters, maintaining positive relationships with them and encouraging their ongoing and increasing support you will contribute to the success of The Smith Family’s vision.

This is a critical role in The Smith Family’s success, with over 54% of our fundraising and bequest revenue coming from the generosity of individual supporters. As our Fundraising Manager, you’ll be responsible for the ongoing development and execution of national multi-channel fundraising appeals with a major focus being the acquisition of new regular givers and cash donors as part of our five-year growth plan.

A day in the life of our Fundraising Manager might look like this, but every day can be different. Primarily, you will be responsible for:

  • Managing the development, production and execution of our Back to School, Winter and Christmas Appeals (and other Appeals as required) by managing the respective agency relationships, with support from Direct Marketing.
  • Leading a high-performing successful team
  • Managing campaigns end to end across all marketing channels, including the creative brief development, above the line media buying, direct mail, logistics, data, tactical plans/testing, reporting and analysis
  • Driving the New Supporter Acquisition Strategy for The Smith Family
  • Managing key supplier relationships (eg Face to Face) to ensure targets and quality KPIs are met
  • Developing and tracking budgets

It takes a special kind of person to be our Fundraising Manager. Our successful candidate will bring the following:

  • Solid experience in planning and executing integrated, multi-channel (direct mail and digital) fundraising campaigns
  • Demonstrated people leadership
  • Proven success in managing a face-to-face marketing program
  • Success in supporter/customer acquisition and developing positive supporter relationships
  • Highly developed budgeting and data skills
  • Solid experience in the not for profit sector

Living up to our employment promise, our team members tell us that working for The Smith Family they have great job flexibility and the ability to work alongside committed, passionate and professional team members whilst engaging in challenging, fulfilling and diverse work. In turn, our team members believe that they offer commitment to our vision, mission and values and effective collaboration with fellow team members to deliver strong performance outcomes.

If you are passionate about what you do, committed to make a difference and this sounds like your next role, we’d love to hear from you.  Please contact us today by sending your resume to [email protected]. You may view the position description at https://www.thesmithfamily.com.au/get-involved/jobs/appeals-and-acquisitions-manager-syd. For any other information, please contact Lee Grewal on (02) 9085-4925.

Closing date: 20 July 2018

Due to the nature of this role, the successful candidate must be prepared to undertake a National Police Check and a Working with Children’s Check. We are an equal opportunity employer and are committed to principles of cultural diversity. Applications from people of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander descent are encouraged.
