As part of the Department’s busy research and finance team you will support researchers with their applications to external organisations for research funding and with the setup of successful awards. You will provide a high quality service assisting with costing and pricing for applications using X5, the University’s costing and pricing software, and advise on non-scientific matters for applications.

As a primary point of contact for queries from Principal Investigators and research staff you will highlight potential issues and suggest possible solutions to address them.

Where appropriate you will direct queries or relay information to relevant administrative contacts, and escalate issues to the Deputy Head of Administration and Finance or Head of Administration and Finance for further advice or guidance. In addition, from time to time you will be called upon to help team members and Principal Investigators with grant management.

You will be educated to A level standard or equivalent, preferably with a relevant scientific background, be competent using Microsoft packages and University wide software (X5, Oracle). To be effective you will have strong teamwork, written and oral communication skills, the ability to plan and manage multiple priorities and demands, and develop sound knowledge of key funder’s criteria. Training will be provided to enable you to develop and succeed in the role.
