Detail information about job Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Computer Vision and Machine Learning. Terms and conditions vacancy

We are seeking a full-time Postdoctoral Research Assistant in Computer Vision and Machine Learning to join the IDIU project in the Visual Geometry Group at the Department of Engineering Science (Central Oxford). The post is funded by European Research Council (ERC) and is fixed-term up to 24 months.

The candidate will work on a cutting-edge research project at the boundary of computer vision and deep learning. The candidate will carry theoretical as well as empirical work on deep learning applied to computer vision tasks and may co-supervise DPhil students working on related problems. You will also be required to conduct related experimental work, including programming machine vision and learning methods and running experiments on large CPU and GPU clusters.

You should possess (or be near completion of) a relevant PhD/DPhil in computer vision or machine learning, together with a solid mathematical and computational background in learning, optimisation, and vision. Previous experience on the practical aspects of the large-scale numerical methods at the core of this research is welcome. A solid track record of publications in relevant international peer-reviewed conferences and journals (e.g. ICCV, CVPR, ECCV, NIPS, ICML, ICLR, PAMI, IJCV) is essential.

Informal enquiries may be addressed to Professor Andrea Vedaldi using the email address below.

There are also another PDRA post being advertised for Computer Vision with the EPSRC funded Seebibyte programme. Please ensure that you apply for both positions if you want to be considered for both.

You will be required to upload a covering letter/supporting statement, including a brief statement of research interests (describing how past experience and future plans fit with the advertised position), CV and the details of two referees as part of your online application.

Only applications received before 12.00 midday on 6 October 2017 can be considered. Interviews are likely to be held within 2 weeks of closing of applications.

The Department holds an Athena Swan Bronze award, highlighting its commitment to promoting women in Science, Engineering and Technology.

Please note that the University of Oxford's retirement policy is changing. With effect from October 1 2017, all employees at Grade 8 and above will have a retirement age of 68, and all employees at Grades 6 and 7 will no longer have a set retirement age.
