In 2014, UCL was awarded £10 million to develop better tools and imaging techniques that will improve the success of surgery and other therapies on unborn babies and infants in collaboration with KU Leuven, Great Ormond Street Hospital, and University College London Hospital.
This is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic researcher with skills in cell manipulation and gene editing to join a multidisciplinary team working across internationally leading university research groups. The candidate will develop prenatal treatments of severe and life-threatening disorders using gene and cellular therapy as well as tissue engineering, and will investigate the efficacy, safety, and ethical issues of such treatments.
The candidate will work under the primary supervision of Paolo De Coppi, Professor of Paediatric Surgery. Further supervision will be provided by Anna David, Professor of Obstetrics and Maternal Fetal Medicine.
The post is available for one year in the first instance.
The post holder must have a PhD or equivalent in a relevant area. Experience and knowledge of the field of regenerative medicine and tissue engineering and experience in design and production of gene therapy vectors, cell culture, flow cytometry, and molecular biology techniques.
