The University Secretary is a key member of our senior leadership team and Clerk to the governing body, the Court. The role reports to the Chair of Court on governance matters and to the Vice–Chancellor on executive issues. They will ensure the effective and smooth operation of the Court, providing support and guidance to both the Chair and the committees. In addition they co-ordinate executive services for compliance, risk, legal and governance on behalf of the Vice-Chancellor.
The successful candidate will have a good understanding of the current external HE landscape and knowledge of best practice in HE governance. They will be able to demonstrate a track record of providing high level strategic advice to a range of senior key stakeholders, in an organisation of comparable scale and complexity. They will have outstanding communication skills, excellent judgement, with the ability to maintain and develop productive relationships with the Board and executive equally.
