SUTD is home to the vibrant research centers of SUTD-MIT International Design Center; LKY-CIC: Lee Kuan Yew Center for Innovative Cities; iTrust: Centre for Research in Cyber Security, and DmanD: Center for Digital Manufacturing and Design; T-Lab@ SUTD: Temasek Lab @ SUTD. These centers are well funded and engage in collaborative multidisciplinary research. A corporate lab, in collaboration with ST Engineering: STEESUTD Corp-Lab for Cybersec R&D, and funded through a grant from the National Research Foundation, will soon be operational. The Corp Lab offers unique opportunities for applied research in cyber security.
Temasek Laboratories @Singapore University of Technology and Design (TL@SUTD) is a partnership established by the Ministry of Defence (MINDEF) and the Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) in Oct 2012.
TL@SUTD undertakes cutting-edge research and development while building up both technical and human talent capabilities in vital fields. The current focus is on areas of defence system design and development, such as Unmanned Systems, Information Systems, Soldier Systems and Engineering Systems.
TL@SUTD harness the potential of science, technology and design for Singapore’s defence, and complement the work that is currently undertaken at the DSO National Laboratories, NUS, NTU and other research establishments.
Our mission is to establish a centre of excellence in defence-related research, focusing on systems design and development.
Some of Our Research Areas
- Machine learning and artificial intelligence
- Human-computer interactions, human-robot interactions
- Digital media research, including language, audio and video processing
- Computer vision, computer graphics and computational fabrication
- Security for cyber-physical systems.
Come 1st August – Tuesday @ Pullman London St Pancras Hotel – there will be an Invite-only Seminar taking place at 7pm; and we would very much like our Singaporeans to come join us for an evening of network & insights. Called “Perspectives in Singapore” - attendees will gain an insight into the latest development in the Artificial Intelligence & Big Data space back home; importantly – Singapore’s Smart Nation initiative & SUTD’s involvement in it.

RequirementsApplicants should possess very strong media search background and application experience, experts in processing algorithms, image and computer vision and machine learning. The applicant should be proficient in C/C++, Python and Java, familiar with AI / Machine Learning tools such as Matlab, TensorFlow, Theano, Scikit-learrn, Weka, and strong scientific research and background. Publication record is a plus.
- Masters / PhD degree in Electronic Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics
- Strong media search, image processing and machine learning background and research
- Strong prototyping skill and programming skill
