Fixed Term: 2 years – full time
We are looking for a dedicated Media, Events and Outreach Officer to deliver a range of communications activities, with a specific focus on delivering the Institute’s events programme, public outreach activities and responses to the media. Reporting to the Communications Manager, the post holder will be an integral part of the Grantham Institute’s communication team.
The post holder will be the primary contact point for the Institute’s media requests and proactively identify opportunities for media engagement to maximise the exposure of climate change and environment-related work at the College. They will be responsible for organising the Institute’s events programme, working closely with the Operations Team. The post holder will also lead the delivery of the Institute’s existing public engagement and outreach activities in relation to climate change and environment.
Educated to degree level, or possessing an equivalent level of vocational experience, you will be able to demonstrate experience of working with science and environment (or similar) media and/or cultural engagement, as well as an interest in climate change and the environment. You will have an in-depth working knowledge of the methods, systems and procedures associated with the delivery of a wide range of communications projects, including media relations, events and outreach. Experience within higher education or working with academics to deliver communications outputs is essential, along with experience of copywriting and editing. You will also need a strong command of the English language and grammar, and the creativity to think of new ideas. You must also have experience of marketing or promoting research activities.
