The Blavatnik School of Government in Oxford is looking to recruit a full-time Departmental Lecturer in Public Policy who combines the skills to deliver formal academic training with a keen awareness of public policy and the policy-making process. This is a fixed-term appointment for 2 years commencing Michaelmas Term 2017 and no later than 1 December 2017.
You will teach and examine students taking the MPP and supervise MPP students. Your duties will include contributing to the core module on politics (“The Politics of Policymaking”) through teaching, marking, and assistance to the module convenors. In addition, you will either contribute to a further core module suited to your abilities and the School’s needs, teach or help teach an option (elective) module to MPP students. You will also help assess MPP applications and may be expected to undertake an academic administration role.
You must have a completed PhD in political science, international relations, public policy, social policy, or a related field. Exceptional candidates nearing completion may also be considered. Candidates with a PhD in a field other than political science will be expected to hold either an undergraduate or Master's degree with a substantial political science component; teaching expertise in politics, policymaking, or related areas; familiarity with quantitative and qualitative research methods; and experience of teaching graduate students.
