The York Trials Unit (YTU) is one of the UK’s leading centres for the design and analysis of randomised controlled trials. Due to the continued success of the Unit, we are now seeking to appoint a new Chair or Reader in Trials.
You will play a lead role in the ongoing development of the Department and YTU. Working closely with the Department’s Head of Research and Director of YTU, other senior colleagues and collaborators, both within the Department and externally, you will help develop new areas of research and contribute to the day to day operational management of the Department and YTU. You will be a dynamic leader with a track record in the design and management of large scale randomised controlled trials and a strong portfolio of research within an area that compliments and/or extends the existing research activity within the Department.
Key requirements: (viewed relative to the level of post applied for – see candidate briefs for more details):
- PhD in a relevant research area, or commensurate professional experience
- An outstanding and internationally recognised knowledge of trial design, implementation and evaluation
- Significant and sustained success in accessing research grants from multiple sources
- An excellent track record of outstanding publications in leading peer-reviewed journals
- Demonstrable impact of your research.

Salary will be commensurate with experience: Chair = current minimum £62,585 Reader = £49,149 - £60,410
