The OTR works closely with researchers and liaises with external stakeholders such as industry, public funders, the NHS/NIHR infrastructure, other University Schools/Departments and internal stakeholders to pro-actively support the development and delivery of translational research projects and training programmes on behalf of Cambridge University Health Partners (CUHP). The Office acts as an external contact point for industrial partners, in particular pharmaceutical and biotechnological companies, who would like to develop translational research collaborations with investigators at the Clinical School. The team offers support by sourcing funding, expertise, and providing project management for the development and application of technology for patient care as a whole, ranging from drug discovery to cell and gene therapy through to medical interventions. The OTR promotes and establishes collaborations between industry and researchers on the Cambridge Biomedical Campus and assist with progression to clinical trial.

The role will play a crucial part in the delivery of the OTR's activities in managing translational projects, promoting, developing and delivering a portfolio of industrial research partnerships, and managing training programmes in collaboration with industry.

You will be expected to be pro-active and able both to prioritise and work to deadlines. You must also be able to work well independently and in a team and have a positive, can-do approach to effectively plan and coordinate events, workshops and seminars, coordinate and project manage translational research projects. You will have strong inter-personal and communications skills, in order to build internal and external working relationships and networks, working across different organisational cultures and communications.

A degree in a relevant subject, e.g. medically related STEM, life sciences or chemistry and PhD (or equivalent) would be desirable. Experience of undertaking research in an academic or industrial setting, combined with a track record of planning and delivering scientific workshops, seminars and networking activities and experience of project management, drafting and negotiating agreements and costing would also be desirable.
