This is an exciting opportunity to join the senior management team in the thriving, diverse and widely renowned academic Department of Politics and International Relations at Oxford University. We are seeking to appoint a full-time Academic Administrator, who will be working closely with the Head of Administration and Finance and senior academic colleagues in managing the Department’s academic activities. The post would suit an Academic who is looking for a career in Administration or a senior Administrator looking for a new challenge.
As Academic Administrator you will oversee the organisation and administration of the Politics undergraduate teaching matters for the Department’s two joint honours degrees and the six graduate degree programmes in collaboration with the relevant academic office holders. In addition, you will coordinate all aspects of departmental input into the examination process for these programmes, play an active role in the departmental courses committees and advise on best academic practice. You will manage a team of 6 administrative staff who support the academic team in DPIR.
The successful candidate will hold an honours degree or have equivalent experience, have excellent organisational skills, with the ability to work independently and proactively. The post holder must have the ability to handle and prioritise a complex portfolio in a challenging environment and be able to show equally high effectiveness in contributing to strategic thinking and in undertaking key operational tasks. The post holder must also be able to demonstrate experience of providing strategic and operational advice, and the ability to communicate effectively with a wide range of people; diplomacy is essential. They will also have a genuine interest in working in an academic environment. Proficiency in IT including MS Office applications is essential in this role.
