Technology and Information Services (TIS) is seeking to recruit a skilled Senior Operations & Maintenance Analyst to work as part of the TIS Operations & Maintenance - Systems team.
Operations & Maintenance - Systems team is responsible for server applications, e.g. Active Directory, Exchange, SQL Server, System Centre Configuration Manager, SharePoint, running on both Windows & Linux based virtual servers (running on VMWare ESXi 5.5). The team is also responsible for application and update distribution to the University’s 5000 Windows devices (desktop & laptops), and device configuration.
The key responsibility is to assist in the maintenance of the systems related to the University’s Windows client devices described above.
You should be educated to degree level and/or have demonstrable equivalent experience of supporting a diverse customer base using Microsoft products.
Essential Skills:
- Microsoft Windows Server 2008 and above
- Microsoft Systems Centre Configuration Manager 2012
- Operating System Deployment
- Application Deployment
- Software repackaging (e.g. InstallShield)
- Desktop client configuration (e.g. Group Policy)
- Windows Server Update Services (WSUS)
- Windows 7 or above Administration
Desirable Skills:
- Intel AMT\VPro technology
- Application Virtualisation
- Scripting (e.g. PowerShell, VBS, .NET)
- Microsoft SQL 2008 and above
You will also:
- Provide escalation for the University Service Desk using problem solving skills to resolve complex technical problems,
- Lead in developing solutions to common problems
- Lead in installation, configuration, and upgrade service applications.
- Be tasked with the creation of technical documentation relating to product installation and administration.

This is a permanent, full time position working 37 hours per week. Successful candidates will be expected to work on a shift basis to cover the hours of 08:00-18:00 Monday-Friday.
