Job SummaryMuscat University (Sultanate of Oman) will be introducing its inaugural degree programmes in September 2017, and is seeking an experienced academic to support the following programmes within the Faculty of Transport and Logistics: MSc Logistics and Supply Chain Management, MSc Air Transport Management, BSc Logistics with Supply Chain Management.

With substantial backing from both private industry and the Omani government, Muscat University was established to further the social and economic priorities of Oman through its vision to be a leading higher education institution for both Omani and international students.  Strong academic partnerships have been achieved with world leading universities in the UK (Aston University and Cranfield University) in order to offer students the unique experience of studying for an internationally recognised UK accredited degree programme locally in Muscat. Accordingly, the Faculty of Transport and Logistics is seeking an experienced academic to support the programmes.

This is a teaching focused role to manage and support delivery of postgraduate, undergraduate, foundation and executive programmes, and to work with the Director of Programmes and UK visiting faculty to ensure efficient and effective delivery of teaching programmes. The post-holder will have primary responsibility for teaching and support on all academic programmes within the Faculty, although there will be the possibility of contributing to executive education courses as necessary, as well as supporting cross-faculty initiatives across all academic levels; therefore, a flexible and collaborative approach to teaching is essential.

For appointment to the Lecturer rank, a minimum of a PhD qualification is needed along with experience of higher education teaching (undergraduate level as a minimum). For appointment to the Senior Lecturer rank, a PhD is required from an internationally recognised university, ideally UK based and AACSB accredited, and ideally three years’ post-doctoral higher education teaching experience (including at master’s level). Experience of the UK higher education sector and/or the Omani and GCC higher education environments would be an advantage, as would strong links to industry and experience of an international context.

Muscat University is particularly keen to receive applications from candidates with broad understanding of the logistics industry, and specialist knowledge of new technologies in operations, transport and supply chain management. Please contact the Director of Programmes for further guidance on suitability.
